This designation recognizes the Niagara Escarpment as an internationally significant ecosystem for its special environment and unique environmental plan. The Bruce Peninsula's southern reach is Sable Beach and Wiarton and extends north through Lion's Head to Tobermory. There are plenty of places to see and things do do within an hours ( or so ) drive from Sauble Beach - so if you are looking for a little diversity in your holiday, Sable Beach has a lot to offer. BRUCE PENINSULA NATIONAL PARK
In the heart of a World Biosphere Reserve, the 'Bruce' is a place of global significance. The massive, rugged cliffs of the park are inhabited by thousand year old cedar trees, overhanging the crystal clear waters of Georgian Bay. The park is comprised of an incredible array of habitats from rare alvars to dense forests and clean lakes. Together these form a greater ecosystem - the largest remaining chunk of natural habitat in southern Ontario.

| FATHOM FIVE NATIONAL MARINE PARK Fathom Five National Marine Park IS Canada's first national marine park. Fathom Five National Marine Park - home to 22 ship wrecks and several lighthouses. Located in the waters surrounding Tobermory, this park includes the famous Flowerpot Island with it's interesting "flowerpot formations" and Cove Island with it's Imperial Lighthouse.

ONTARIO PROVINCIAL NATURE RESERVES
There are 9 Nature Reserves located in the Bruce Peninsula.
Sauble Falls Nature Reserve is located in Sable Beach. Every spring and fall, rainbow trout and chinook salmon struggle over each ledge of this cascading waterfall to spawn upstream. Flanked by immature forest, the falls used to power a timber mill and generating station. Now they are the terminus of the Rankin River canoe route, ideal for novice canoeists.

SPIRIT ROCK CONSERVATION AREA
The name Spirit Rock is derived from a legend involving an Indian maiden who threw herself over a cliff after being disowned by her tribe. She was guilty of falling in love with a chief from an enemy tribe and her family turned against her. Today, when the lighting and angles are just right, the face of the maiden can be seen in the cliffs from below. Visit Spirit Rock Here

Tobermory, Ontario is part of the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula . Tobermory is well known for it's 2 national parks - Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park . as well as it's twin harbours of "Big Tub" and "Little Tub". | LION'S HEAD Lion's Head, Bruce Peninsula is a peaceful port village, located on the shores of Isthmus bay. Surrounded by beautiful limestone cliffs which, when viewed from Georgian Bay , resemble the head of a lion, giving Lion's Head it's name. | WIARTON Wiarton is a lovely village located on the shores of Georgian Bay. Bluewater Park in Wiarton is beautiful winter and summer with the perfect Victorian train station, the white stone sculpture of Wiarton's famous Spring forecaster, Wiarton Willie , a busy ball diamond and children's playground, plus a boat launch and long dock for fishing, strolling or watching the sunrise over the escarpment and clean water. BIKING - BRUCE PENINSULA MOUNTAIN BIKING ADVENTURE PARK
The Bruce Peninsula Mountain Biking Park has 20 kilometers of trail ranging from single to double-track. According to local riders the park offers some of the toughest single-track available in the area. If you're not into cross-country riding than perhaps you would prefer to test your skills on one of thirty technical trail features available at the park. Visit Park Here

THE CHICHEEMAUN FERRY
Take a ride or a dinner cruise to Manitoulin Island on the
Chi-cheemaun Ferry . The ferry leaves Tobermory several times per day in the summer season, and offers a delightful dinner cruise across to Manitoulin and returns the same evening. Visit the "Big Canoe" - The Chi-Cheemaun here

BIRD WATCHING ON THE BRUCE PENINSULA AND AREA
The Bruce Peninsula is located on a major northern migration route, so many species of birds can be found here. Also, birds such as the Bald Eagle have their wintering grounds here.
The Annual Huron Fringefest Birding Festival in May celebrates the spring migration. This festival takes place in Port Elgin at
MacGregor Point Provincial Park.
