  • The first settler is reported to have been John Eldridge, who built a cottage nearby in 1877

BIKING

Some of the most picturesque routes in Ontario can be found in Grey and Bruce counties. Sauble boasts challenging, fast running mountain bike trails, and an excellent stop on a multi-day trek.

BOATING & BOAT LAUNCHES

Sauble River Boat Launch

  1. Follow Lakeshore Blvd onto King Edward St., then turn left onto Sauble Falls Rd, and follow it to the corner and you're there.
    Or
  2. Follow Sauble Falls Parkway North un till you reach Sauble Falls Rd (it's indicated by the turn-off to Sauble Falls Prov. Park), and follow the road south.
    Parking for Cars and trailers available.

Oliphant Boat Launch

Follow Sauble Falls Parkway North un till you reach the big red stop sign. Turn left towards the shoreline. Once you reach Oliphant Shore Rd, you will see the docks, and boat launch.

Boat Lake Launch (Small craft boat launch access) :

Follow the Sauble Parkway North to the big red stop sign, and turn left towards Wiarton. Follow 13 past the big bend, and just over the bridge, on your left-hand side is a parking lot and rest area with washrooms.

* Please note: The beach is for public recreation, and is not a launch for motorized equipment. Please consider the safety of everyone at the beach, and piece of mind for those enjoying the water. Please launch only at designated areas, and maintain mandatory safe distances from the shore. Thank you.


 

CANOEING & KAYAKING

Nothing could be finer than spending a day - or more - canoeing the Sauble, Rankin or Saugeen river routes. There are multiple access points, throughout the area. Check these links for river route maps, and see the Bruce at it's best.

FISHING

How big did your want that fish?
Sauble Beach and area are host to several fishing derby's throughout the year, which is no wonder considering the many lakes and charters available to the beginner and avid fisherman.

HIKING & WALKING TRAILS

Sauble has many different locals hidden throughout the area geared to casual strolls, intermediate and rugged hikes.

Banister Park Fitness Trail
Found by the community center, challenge yourself or others.

Wild Iris Boardwalk (Bannister Park)
See nature at work along the edge of Carson's Lake

Walkers Woods
Offers casual walking trails, used by bikers as well, featuring interesting facts about the some of the old forests and marshlands within Sauble.

The Bruce Trail
Sauble is only a short ride (20 min's) from access points along the Bruce Peninsula, and offer hikes for all ages, and all levels. Great for a day of discovering the Escarpment, or experience the Bruce by reserving a campsite for a multi-day hike.

GOLFING

Sauble Beach Golf & Country Club - Named for the scenic Sauble River which flows past its 3rd and 4th holes, the Sauble Golf & Country Club lies on the gently rolling Algonquin plain that is well treed throughout. The wide variety of coniferous and deciduous trees, including poplars, willows and skyrocket cedars, makes for a colourful backdrop for your game, especially in the fall.

Northern Dunes Golf Club - A picturesque 127 acre parcel of land, was sculptured from the soil of a former tobacco farm. Using a strategic blend of Scottish links and contemporary styling, "the Dunes" was designed to challenge even the most seasoned golfer. Carved around stands of white pines and meandering wetlands, its undulating fairways, pot bunkers and hollows make ball placement a premium. 6400 yards, 18 Holes, par 72, Licensed Clubhouse with Enclosed Patio and Outdoor Patio, and Pro Shop

SNOWMOBILING

Sauble Beach really is the epitome of a winter wonderland when that white stuff comes down. We're what connects you to an incredible trail system that will take you just about anywhere you may want to go in Ontario. See the area, spend an afternoon, or pack some gear and tour the Bruce and Grey counties. Don't forget to take a camera though, because you'll have exclusive access to some of the most beautiful (and otherwise inaccessible) country you've ever seen.
Access to snowmobile routes may be found:
1. Off of D-line, just south of Fedy Dr.
2. At the north and south corners of Rankin Bridge Road (just east of the Rankin Bridge)
3. At the south corner of C-line, off of Jewel Bridge Road
4. Off of Main Street (County Rd. 8) between D-line and Municipal Road

X-COUNTRY SKIING

Ski the Sauble cross country ski trails, the best classic nordic ski trails in south western Ontario. Daily rates OR single, couple & family memberships available. May be purchased at the main entrance Chalet, the new lock box system (at the Chalet), MacBeth's Cafe & Bakery, Sauble Beach, Suntrail Outfitters, Hepworth AND BJ's Grill, Sauble Parkway, north of the Sauble Falls (Closed Mon. & Tues.).
Do not litter, no dogs, or walking on groomed trails allowed during the winter season.
